CURATORIAL NOTE

Aurora, from the series The Majesty in Becoming, examines how societies historically construct strength as dominance and how individuals reinterpret that construction as internal sovereignty. The lion, long associated with kingship, conquest, and masculine authority, functions as a culturally inherited emblem of power. Political, economic, and symbolic systems have aestheticized dominance as virtue, embedding hierarchical models of strength into collective imagination.

In alignment with Spring in Winter's structural methodology, Aurora traces how macro narratives of power are reinforced through institutional expectations and internalized in personality formation. By transforming an archetype of external rule into a meditation on self-governance, the work reframes sovereignty as ethical self-mastery rather than hierarchical control. It invites viewers to reconsider how strength is defined, rewarded, and embodied within contemporary systems.

ARTWORK & COLLECTOR INFORMATION

This original artwork is created on museum-grade cotton duck canvas using professional acrylic paints, presented on a 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) gallery-wrapped stretcher, allowing the work to be displayed without additional framing. The canvas is archival and acid-free, ensuring long-term preservation.
